미국의 닐 도널드 월쉬가 쓴 책.
저자는 1943년생으로, 인생에서 가장 어려운 시기를 겪고 나서, 1992년 봄 어느 날 새벽에, 신에게 왜 자기의 삶이 그렇게도 풀리지 않는지 공책에 휘갈겨 적으며 물었는데, 오른쪽 어깨 너머에서 "너는 진정 답을 원하는 거냐? 아니면 그냥 내뱉어 본 것이냐?"라는 소리가 들려 이를 받아 적었고, 다시 질문하고 답을 받기를 반복하여 대화록이 되었다.
